The final design for this project resulted in a working prototype that allows a user to create and edit a skincare routine. With the skincare routine, a user is also able to see if any of the listed skincare product's are not compatible in the routine.

As a teenager…

As a teenager…

Growing up, I struggled with skin issues and often relied on social media recommendations, which led to buying ineffective products I couldn’t really afford. Lacking access to expensive treatments and professional advice affected my confidence. This experience inspired me to design an app that supports others facing similar challenges—offering accessible skincare guidance without the need for costly products or dermatologists.

Users of a mobile app fitness tracker had almost twice the odds of meeting physical activity goals compared to non-users.

Knowing that users who used a mobile app tracker had a higher chance of implementing the positive habit into their routine was a positive sign that my design could motivate users to track their skincare routine. The next step was understanding who my competitors were and what their unique proposition value was.

After understanding the current market for skincare products I saw a lack for a effective method for journaling and tracking skincare routines. I wanted to empathize with what a user might feel so I created personas in order to better understand the pain points that a user might have while trying to keep a consistent skincare routine.

While creating the user journey, I realized that the sheer amount of skincare information and product choices could easily overwhelm users and discourage them from building a routine. The process of selecting products can feel tedious, and if it's too complex, users like Alex might give up altogether. I wanted to avoid that sense of frustration by designing an experience that made personalization as simple and seamless as possible, allowing users to easily add or remove products without feeling burdened by too many options.

User Flow:

Skincare routine management

Creating a skincare routine would be the first step for a user on the app, so I wanted to make this process as smooth as possible. Additionally, this flow provided opportunities to showcase broader app functionality, including detailed product pages and product exploration features.

By using insights from creating a persona, I began making wireframes based on the user flow and kept in mind the pain points my persona, Alex would have. I wanted a skincare routine process that would not be overwhelming for the user and allow them to easily add and delete products from their routine. I designed key pages for skincare routine addition and skincare product exploration.

The design system was created to be simple and intuitive for users. I chose white and blue for a clean look and rounded icons so the app would not be harsh on the users eyes. The design system allowed for organized branding across the prototype.

REFLECTION

Through the development of SkinClear, I had successfully created a skincare routine management app for users to effectively track and modify their routines while providing valuable product compatibility information:

• Routine Management: Users can now easily manage their skincare routines by adding or removing products, making daily regimen adjustments more accessible.

• Product Compatibility: The compatibility feature has transformed skincare management by reducing trial and error, providing users with clear guidance on which products suit their skin.

• Efficient Editing: The app's intuitive modification features allow users to quickly adjust their routines, enhancing ease of use.
